Our magnets show the potential snow make-up days highlighted in yellow, as does the official (paper) calendar issued by the county. That obviously doesn't tell you whether or not a particular day will in fact be taken as a holiday or used as a make-up day, but at least we know which are "iffy" so we can check for ourselves. On a year like this one, when we HAVEN'T HAD ANY SNOW YET, it's pretty easy to keep up. (My kids and I are feeling snow-deprived; does it show?)

There is no accounting for snow days or for anything of that matter. The dates that get keyed on ours are...Days schools are closed for legal holidays or Breaks, 1/2 days, PTO meeting dates, monthly assembly dates (we have an assembly once a month for awards & recognitions), and the dates report cards are issued.

We have been using them for years and have yet to have a problem with our dates being rescheduled.

I thnk that it's a good idea, but.....I know that may of you have snow days, we've had huricane days this year. Totally unexpected.

The school district has had to revise their calendar twice so far this year. How do you justify the cost of the magnets when they dates may not be correct? I love the idea, but need ideas on how to get it through the board.

We have been doing them for years and they are great. We use Magnet Street Magnetstreet.com

The cost is in the ballpark of $400 for I believe 500 magnets. We actually get a local bank to donate the fee for these and they put a small logo of the bank in one corner of the the magnet.

We have them and as a parent I love it! I will get the vendor name off of it when I get home and post it.
