We do one fundraiser a year along with boxtops and Tyson labels. We have a fall festival that clears $20,000. I have to agree with the policy of limiting fundraisers. While the money is necessary, the classroom disruption that comes with each fundraiser must factor into the decision to how many to have.
I know this might not be a popular position, but I along with others requested a policy of one fundraiser per year. The benefit is that our parents know this is a one time thing. We have it early in the year before everyone is "hit up" to death. We have HUGE volunteer turnout and make the money we need.
Our school of 1200 does three fundraisers. One is a skate party about every month, next is a no work (ask for a donation) and the third is usually something different each year. We are unable to do the BIG ones like the wrapping paper etc as the school already does an average of ONE A MONTH which is really killing any change of our group raising thousands of dollars for anything.
Our school promotes the General Mills Boxtops for Education marketplace, which sounds exactly like schoolpop. It lists what percentage donation each store will give. Amazon stopped participating with this as well. I sent them an email complaining, hopefully if enough people protest, they'll decide to join up again. Amazon is such a popular site that it's a shame not to have them as an option.
SchoolPop is an online shopping mall. Basically, anyone who starts their internet shopping from this site can designate your school to receive a percentage of the sale. Lots of good companies participate--Barnes & Noble, Old Navy, Office Depot, ProFlowers, etc.--there are hundreds. (Big bummer: Amazon stopped participating just last month in SchoolPop and all the other sites similar to it.) You can go to www.schoolpop.com
