Fundraising nightmare! Party Lite Candles

We have used PartyLite as a fundraiser for the past 3 years in our little school of 80 plus students. As typical of a small private school , not every students sells. This year we had 22 students who sold $2900 which profited $1450 for our school.

The best part of this fundraiser, is everything is direct ship to each seller, there is no storing, separating or finding freezer space for items like cookie dough that don't get picked up on time by the parents.

This is the easiest fundraiser we do each year.

Hi Ladies

I am a PartyLite consultant and have had very successful fundraisers. We do have jar candles. I am so sorry for your troubles but this consultant was out of line if you asked for jar candles that is what should have been sold. She was out of line to do that. All home party based businesses have a few bad apples~ but please do no tlet that one spoil the whole barrel. I also have been a Tupperware consultant and I have seen their share of complaints too

I like the idea of looking at the actual catalog before signing up, but time wise, that doens't always work. After our Fall Catalog-we could only see last year's when we signed-I think we will be seriously considering this.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

That IS a nightmare!

There's nothing worse than someone doing something like that, because the school population doesn't see HER as the schmuck, but you certainly take the hits!! I suspect you do have a policy about handing out stuff, but that doesn't always mean people respect it.

Party Lite DOES have jar candles, but they're rather pricey. I know Bertha's school has very good luck with Yankee Candle, but it seems as though Party Lite could be successful IF IT WAS DONE RIGHT. It never ceases to amaze me how there are people out there that just don't get how to do things properly.

Were you able to pull the "chair" of this committee and tell her to get her act straight? Is it possible to send out another catalogue with a memo of apology? It seems to me if incentives were offered she HAS to honor them. She dropped the ball. It's up to her to accept responsibility. We had a problem with a cookbook--nothing with incentives or anything, but one co-chair "took over," and COMPLETELY dropped the ball, right down to how an art contest was to be handled and getting the book published before myself (pres) or any of the other committee and executive board members were able to proofread and edit. To say the least it was awful, and the principal had a STROKE when she saw some of the artwork, which she was supposed to help judge  . Of course it's my, my vice's and fundriaisng chair's faults -- we wanted it done by a certain date, and well--she and her committee did what they had to do to get it done. The fact that she NEVER ASKED FOR HELP when she should have, and then NEVER LET US KNOW THE TARGET DAY WASN'T DO-ABLE if we wanted the book to be perfect... I too feel your pain.

I agree with the last poster about Yankee Candles. We have been using them for years and it is always successful. Here is the link for the company that has sole fundraising rights to Yankee Candle www.yankeefundraising.com

There is nothing you can really do about the current situation your in. All you can do is learn from mistakes that happen and never use this woman again. Good Luck!

It's too bad she didn't let you see a brochure before sending it home, might be a nice policy to implemiment.

I honestly don't know if I have ever seen jar candles in Party Lites. In the meantime, look at Yankee Candles, they used to have a fundraiser.
