just dump campbells

Went shopping yesterday and drove my cart over something interesting: A full pad of certificates that read as follows: "Buy 5 Campbell's Products, Earn 100 Bonus Labels". It jogged my memory - they have promotions like this every year.

So, if you are still a Campbell's School, head out to your local grocer and ask him where your coupons are!! It's not a miracle fix, but stapling 5 UPC's to one of these forms for an extra 100 labels certainly helps.

I was the Campbell's coordinator for our school two years ago, and quite frankly, I think I've spent less time on my job as the PTA President!

28,000 labels, $15.00 in shipping costs, and about 50-75 hours of cutting and collecting time..I could have worked the same amount of time at minimum wage, donated the money to the school, and netted $100 more in donations to the school in pure cash.

What gives, Campbell's?

justme,
If you have people who volunteer to do the program, go for it.
As for my PTO, we dropped Campbell's two years ago to concentrate on boxtops. I agree with Tim and Metzy, it was simply a decision of how best to utilize the time we had available.
I grew up with saving soup labels and still do, but it is out of habit rather than tradition. I drop them off at a local church every now and then. I'd like to see Campbell's do something to boost their program.

We don't do Campbells any more either.

Parents/Grandparents who spend time clipping the labels will be just as happy clipping boxtops or maybe grading papers or cutting out stuff for teachers, all things they can do at home and all very important ways of helping out, feeling like part of the group if you will.

On the other hand, we do give all of our labels that come in (once it starts, it never ends...lol...) to a local church who sends them to a school for the handicapped who receives labels from churches around the country. The church ladies do the clipping and the handicapped school just sends them in and collects.

On the whole, I agree with Tim. Too much time, effort and down-right costly in the long run for the small smathering of money. That isn't why we quit though. We quit because the company was rude to us on more than one occasion.

Here's another opinion just for the books, I feel if someone wants to do this for us and we get anything out of it how can you go wrong! This had been cut from our school for 3 year and we just brought it back after al the parents drove us nuts asking for it and a parent stepped up to run it! Why dump anything that gets partent involved even if the return is small it makes them feel they are helping! Suggesting to dump this would be in poor taste!

Could someone direct me to the original info on Campbells? I don't personally participate in it at the school but would like to know more so that when my units ask, "What do you think about Campbells?" I can be informed.
It sounds to me, like a waste of valuable volunteer time but I'd like to see more about it.
Thanks.
