SCHOOL COOKBOOK--Who did you use, would you recommend, HOW did you promote?

robbieboppers: Before you 'punish yourself', keep in mind that the cookbook publishers usually charge a mere $2-$3 per book. Sometimes the binding supplies can cost nearly as much. Be careful.

I also thought about doing cookbooks. My thoughts leaned towards using volunteers to do the typing and printing. We have a binding machine at school. All we need are the recipes. The kids could do the art work. Well I guess the volunteers would also be needed. I've always been a glutten for punishment. It's only one little project that should keep me out of trouble for the rest of the year.

Has anyone tried doing a resipe box. We are concidering putting together a "cookbook" and I thought it would be nice to use our computer lab and create laminated recipe cards instead of using a publisher to put together a book???

You know, they are recipes that I would have never have gotten from some of these friends and neighbors. Also to have one book that basically has all Mom's favorite tried and true dishes is priceless!

I called the publisher for info and would you believe it, the receptionist knew my family and goes to the same church as my cousins and remembers Mom! Like my husband says "You can take the girl outta the country but you just can't take the country outta the girl!"

We had only about 50 preorders but the minimum of the book we made was 200. We are hoping to sell them at Back to School night and other occasions. I think they will go.

We put together our first middle school cookbook this year. This is the first year of exsistence for our pto. We are using Fundcraft. After our committee dropped the ball and we found out the company never rec'd all our recipe info, I resubmitted it and called the company quite often to see if they got my mail.
They are currenly working on it. Each book will cost us about $3.50 and we presold them at $8 and will charge $10.
We had the MS art teacher have a contest for the cover and dividers. Great turn out. Teachers, principals and staff along with parents sent in over 200 recipes.
We are looking forward to getting our proof copy the end of June and finally having the books when school starts!!
So far so good. Delay not fault of Fundcraft. They have been very helpful.
