Doughnuts for Dads

I am also a Girl Scout leader, and some of our activities are called
"Guy and Me" to calm any girl feelings of being unable to participate in the program due to a lack of father in the home (some girls cannot remember ever seeing their fathers). We are planning on having a troop event next year and naming it "Guy and Me" so that everyone can participate.

I have also seen "He and Me" and
"My favorite Guy & Me"
"My special Guy & Me"

"HE & ME" what a great solution to a sensitive situation! I love that name (and may have to plagiarize it!)

Glad the event was such a roaring success!

I am happy to report that today we held our first "He and Me" Breakfast. We worked in cooperation with the school Headstart staff. We had an overwhelming turnout of almost 200 people! This is a HUGE turnout for a PTO event at our school. Thank you all for your helpful and insightful wisdom!

I'm sure your Donuts event is past, but I'll just let you know about the events we hold and what we call them. We hold three events throughout the year: Muffins for Moms & Other Signficant Women, Donuts for Dads & Other Significant Men, and Goodies for Grandparents & ..... (something!) I think we SHOULD be sensitive for kids - view it thru their eyes, not our eyes, which may not take it so sensitively!

I have put the idea of favorite man breakfast into the principal roundtable this week and also our school's steering committee for next week. I will let you know how they respond. Meanwhile I was in charge of father-son night (or other special person) I rented out the local YMCA for the night. The big and little men had a great time sporting together and I received alot of thank you's. Next year we switch to father-daughter and mother-son. So it does equal out.

We have two events annually for father/father figures ai our school. We sponsor "dare Your Dad To spend the Day" which is an all day event. We invite fathers and father figures to spend the day with a student at school. They go to class, gym, eat lunch etc. The flyer is written to include persons who may not have a father inthe home. we also have a mentor program with a local university. They come on that day to be abuddy to a child that does not have someone to spnd time with on that day. Also, we have a "dad's N' Donuts" activity. This is usually an informative workshop for men. We usually have this session in the evening and encourage participants to bring their children with them.
