Dearest Kindergarten Parents,
Here is a little "gift" for you as you leave your precious one with (School name) on the first day of school. As you hold this cotton ball in your hand, the softness will help you to remember the gentle spirit of your child. After you've gone home and dried your tears, make yourself a hot cup of tea . Put up your feet and relax. Remember that together we will work for your child to be the best they can be.Thank you for entrusting your child to (school name)for the coming school year. Our school will do their very best every day to be your child's guide in learning and exploring this bright, new world they've just stepped into.
Sincerely,(The school's) PTA

Put following poem in a ziplock bag with the following items: a cotton ball, a Kleenex and a tea bag)

The First Day
We gave you a little wink and smile
As you entered our school today.
For we know how hard it is to leave
And know your child must stay.
You've been with him for five years now
And have been a loving guide,
But now, alas, the time has come
To leave him at the teacher’s side.
Just know that as you drive away
And tears down your cheeks may flow
We’ll love him as we would our own
And help him learn and grow.
For as a parent, we too know
How quickly the years do pass
And that one day soon it will be our turn
To take our child to class.
So please put your mind at ease
And cry those tears no more
For we will love him and take him in
When you leave him at our door.

A TEACHER'S SURVIVAL KIT

Band-Aid- to heal hurt feelings, your and theirs.
Rubber Band- so you'll always stay flexible.
Marbles- to replace the ones you've lost.
Mint- to remind you that you are worth a "mint".
Penny- so you'll never be broke.
Paperclip- to hold your busy life together.
Cotton (ball)- for when you can't hear yourself think.
Crayon- to color your day bright and cheerful.
Jewel (sequin, etc.)- to remind you that you are as valuable as any
precious stone!

These were attached to helium balloons and we got the roster of students from the teachers-
one for a boy, one for a girl

[NAME BOY] FIRST DAY OF KINDERGARTEN

Look Mommy and Daddy! Look at me!
I’m a big boy now ready to fly… can you see!
I’m learning to count and say my ABC’s…
Look Mommy and Daddy, aren’t you proud of me!

But hold on tight to the string, ‘cause you know
Although I’m growing I still need you, you know
To hear about my day, and cuddle next to me
As I tell you my tales of Kindergarten, you see.

I’m making new friends and learning each day
And with each step, I’m up, up and away!
But never too far for you to hold onto me
Because I love you Mommy and Daddy…won’t you fly with me?

“A Hug because sometimes you just need one.
A Kiss to remind you that you are loved.
A Snickers because sometimes you just have to laugh.
An extra ‘eyeball’ because sometimes you need one in the back of your head.
An extra Payday because everyone could use an extra one of those.
A Tootsie Roll to remind you not to bite off more than you can chew.
A $100 Grand because you deserve it.
A Life Saver because you truly are.
A Milky Way because you are one of the brightest stars in the galaxy.
An Almond Joy because sometimes you feel like a nut.
A Mounds because sometimes you don’t.
Some Reese’s Pieces because sometimes you just need a little peace.
One Promise that you can break.
A Baby Ruth because sometimes you just want to run home.
A Mars because you’re out of this world.
A bag to help you ‘keep it all together.’”

Last year we did a heart shaped cookie on a stick that we decorated and added a poem telling them we were trusting them with a piece of our hearts. Seems to go over well and looked VERY nice...
