No Box Tops

We discovered with our classroom incentive that it was still just the same few kids bringing in the boxtops and the whole class benefitting. Now we have started a raffle every two weeks. The kids put their names on the back or each box top and they are drawn on the morning news. You would think this would be a hassle for the kids, but we have received no complaints and more kids are bringing them in than before. We also do a boxtops/labels display at all events - even if we are only providing hospitality. We set up a table with empty product boxes that have box tops. We also have a poster with campbell's label so they see the products and how to cut the label. We get people all the time saying Hey! We use that - I didn't know that qualified. The poster is labels that we cut and pasted to poster board and laminated - well worth it!

After several e-mails etc, I'm meeting with one of the Principals this week!

Last night while I trimmed 750 tops! I'm bringing them to the meeting and show him how much money I collected in three months...with no advertising!

am I turning into a trained circus seal or is it just all the hoops I've been jumping through? I don't even like fish! :D

During lunch on Fridays we do a Box Tops store where kids can get pencils or stampers or balls, etc for turning in their Box Tops. This is run by volunteers and teachers don't have to do anything. On the occasion that we are having a classroom contest, most teachers are willing to help because they want a pizza party or whatever. Maybe a store or classroom event that teachers would find useful would be easier for you guys to not get hassled for.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

I'm sorry. I meant to add that our teachers don't have to do a single thing other than pass out the box tops @ home paper once a month.

At the school my child is at now our teachers will do absolutely nothing that is outside their contract. On the one hand I can understand them not wanting to take on a lot more but I figure I am working there absolutely free. Ah well, that's a completely different topic, I suppose.

Best of luck to you!

I just wanted to let you know what has worked at our school in the past. We also have 10x13 envelopes taped up in each classroom and our students put their box tops in. Each month a PTO parent goes in and collects all the envelopes. They are counted up and the class with the most box tops wins for that month. The winning class is presented with a treat during our monthly assembly. Usually it is cupcakes or brownies or rice crispie treats, something that a parent makes and donates.

Each month we also send out the flyer Box Tops @ home or whatever it is called and I have to say, it has doubled the number of box tops that were brought in to our school the first year we did it. I think it keeps it in people's minds.

Finally, at the end of the year, the class that has collected the most box tops all year is given an ice cream party or something similar. For that our parent group did use funds from our account but that could be donated also.
