Well I have to say that the way your principal is handling the AR program is exactly the way we have done it for years here VERY successfully... Also, the PTO meeting is exactly where it needs to be addressed here, we provide the AR parties and have bought Test CD's in the past...
The way they treated you was dispicable, and you had every right to complain , I am just sorry it fell on deaf ears... sounds as if there is a managament issue at some point.

youve done nothing wrong. if the venue was inappropriate, you should have been POLITELY asked to refrain and take it up with XYZ venue or person.

the only persons reputation that is tarnished, seems to me, is those that treated you so rudely, both during and after the meeting. there are probably lots of other issues your admin deals with similarly would be my guess.
