I have every right to them and will get them. [img]smile.gif[/img] Yes---I think that this is a control issue. I believe that this person enjoys the control of knowing the by-laws while the rest of us in in the dark. So this will change. [img]smile.gif[/img]

Ask your principal for a copy of the bylaws, the school will have a copy of the rules for your group and you are allowed to make copies of school docs like that.

ask the person exactly where it says, in RRO, about no copies.

they must be confused with something else. since when are bylaws confidential at any organization that is either
1) linked to a PUBLIC institution or
2) a non profit org.

either way, the bylaws are availbale to the public. period. copies too.

Bylaws should be available to anyone who is a member, and if you are 501 I believe that you have to keep them available for public viewing. Either way your members are suppose to be able to see them !

Yes, you absolutely can have a copy of the bylaws. I send a welcome packet to all of my board members at the start of every year and it includes a copy of the bylaws. Really, you are the president and the presiding officer of your meetings. How, exactly, are you supposed to run things without knowing the rules?

Kudos to you for starting a binder. Future board members will truly appreciate it.

Buy a copy of Roberts Rules of Order. Check www.bn.com or head to the book store. There are many wonderful abridgements available. Next time the treasurer - or anyone - quotes RRO you'll be armed and ready.
