Send bylaws to members and principal. Discuss with board and principal. Then discuss with president.

Playing devils advocate....

At least it is encouraging that the Pres is delegating some work to you Mx23.

The toughest lesson for a new leader to learn is to rely on other people to do their fair share. Setting goals, making assignments, deciding when to mentor vs. when to assist vs., when to step in vs when to allow a mistake to happen are all tough choices (usually with no cut-and-dried answer). You state that she doesn't want to own up to others mistakes but a part of leadership is really allowing people to learn from their mistakes.

I can see an exceptional situation where an executive decision needs to be made on the spot and then the rest of the leaders are backfilled later. But that should be a rare exception and the fact that it is happening so early in the school year is a sign of trouble. I agree you should talk it out as soon as possible.

I think you have to come right out and read the bylaws, that it is a parent group not a one person show. Anything that hse decides to do on her own should be voided out and discussed openly. She may get mad but oh well!

There are too many potential reasons for the president's behaviour. Regardless, you may find it helpful to just have a chat with her. Mention how busy she is, let her know the whole leadership team is there to help, and explain why you think it's important for everyone to be part of the decision making process.

I agree that the current situation can be the downfall of your group. People need to feel part of something to support it. If it looks and feels like a one man show then that is exactly what it will become.

I thank all of you for your help. |I still think that we need a united front. This way no one looks like the bad guy. I feel that she dosen't want to own up to someone else's mistakes and takes it all on herself. She has given me a lot of work to do, so I know that she feels I'm trustworthy, but it still seems like all the big things are executive decisions. Our fall fund raiser was changesd to another date without asking the rest of the board if this was ok.

After re-reading my post I realized that it may look like I'm slamming you Mommyx23, when that was not my intention. I was really referring to the board members who don't want to back you up. I hope you didn't take my comment wrong.
